The Challenge

The healthcare industry is flooded with tracking apps, but most overwhelm users with clinical interfaces. Our challenge was to create an experience that felt personal and motivating rather than medical and intimidating.

UX Research

Research & Discovery

I conducted user interviews with 25 participants across different age groups and health literacy levels. The research revealed three critical insights:

Users wanted progress visualization over raw numbers, they needed contextual explanations for health metrics, and they valued gentle nudges over aggressive notifications.

Design Process

Starting with user personas and journey mapping, I identified key moments where users typically disengage. I created low-fidelity wireframes focusing on three core flows: onboarding, daily check-in, and progress review. Through three rounds of usability testing, I refined the information architecture to reduce cognitive load by 40%.

Solution

The dashboard was redesigned from a data-heavy grid to a card-based layout with progressive disclosure. Health scores were simplified into an intuitive 1-100 scale. I introduced a Daily Story feature that contextualizes health data in plain language.
